Elizabeth Betty (Stofer) Caudill

November 20, 1922 ~ September 12, 2016 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Elizabeth (Betty) Stofer Caudill, 93, of Mt. Sterling, died Monday, September 12, 2016 under hospice care at the U.K. Medical Center.  She was born November 20, 1922 in Mt. Sterling, daughter of the late Mildred Tonkin and Jackson D. Stofer.  She was a retired medical secretary for Dr. Roy Kash, taught Sunday School for the First Christian Church and was a leader of Girl Scout Troop 142.  She was a member of the Mary Chiles Hospital Auxiliary where she was volunteer of the year in 1994 and again in 2005-2006, donating more than 7500 hours.  Betty was a lifelong seamstress, cross stitcher, quilter and crocheter.  She made over 70 afghans for Warm Up Montgomery County.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Francis R. "Dub" Caudill.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Pamela Caudill Woodrum (Gobel McKinney) of Lexington and Kathryn Caudill  Wimsatt of Owensboro, a niece, Dorothy Stofer Haddix of Mt. Sterling, 3 grandchildren, Tracy Wimsatt McKenney, Mark (Hanna) Wimsatt, and Katy Wimsatt, and 4 great-grandchildren, Nicholas McKenny, Russell McKenney, Avery Wimsatt and Emily Wimsatt.

Her graveside service will be 2:30 Wednesday at Machpelah Cemetery.  Visitation is 11-2:00 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Salvation Army.
