John Edward Brooks Sr., husband of Barbara Baker Brooks, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017. He was a 77 year old native of Montgomery County, son of the late Henry and Anna Mildred Davis Brooks, a retired employee from Mt. Sterling Advocate, and member of Smithville Church and attended Rolling Hills Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Miriam) Brooks of Lexington and John Edward (Ila) Brooks Jr. of Greensburg, Indiana, 4 daughters, Annette Frye of Lexington, Glenna Brooks, Gail Brooks, and Barbara (Larry) Chenault, all of Mt. Sterling, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother, Howard Clay Brooks, and a sister, Mary Burns Owens. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Burns White and a brother, Walter Burns.
His funeral will be 1:00 Saturday at Rolling Hills Church of Christ with burial in Olive Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 11-1:00 Saturday. Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
