Marlene Workman Penix, wife of Jerry Penix, of Jeffersonville, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017. She was a 67 year old native of Casey County, daughter of Lucille Hughes Workman of Ohio and the late Oscar Workman, a camp host at Twin Knob Camp, retired Montgomery County Bus Driver and member of the Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by 2 daughters, Shelly (Tony) Slagle of Mt. Sterling and Kathy (Lenny) McGuire of Jeffersonville, a son, Rick (Kristy) Penix of Jeffersonville, 9 grandchildren, Madison, Bryce and Austin Penix, Cooper Slagle, Dave, Michael, Cameron, Caleb and Christina McGuire, and 4 sisters, Donna McNeilan and Jennie Workman, both of Ohio, Nancy Ward of Camargo and Crystal Madden of Alabama. She was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Workman.
Her celebration of life will be 11:00 Saturday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Myers Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9:00 Friday. Proceeding the ceremony there will be a gathering at Jeffersonville Baptist Church on Hwy. 599.
