Vernell Walters Carpenter, widow of Rollie Gilbert Carpenter, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015. She was an 80 year old native of Morgan County, daughter of the late Hager and Rena Myrtle Rudd Walters, a housewife and member of Eastland Church of God. She is survived by a daughter,Connie Watson, and 2 grandchildren, Rena Thacker and Rollie Monroe Carpenter, all of Mt. Sterling, 3 great-grandchildren, Makayla and Madison Stigall and Kileigh Thacker, a sister, Ressie Ward, and a nephew, Steve Ward. She was preceded in death by a son, John Carpenter and a grandson, Keith Watson. Her funeral will be 2:00 Saturday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Carpenter Cemetery. Visitation is noon until 2:00 Saturday.
