Eugene Compton

Eugene Compton, husband of Lillian Willoughby Compton of 56 years, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018.  He was an 81 year old native of Grundy, Virginia, son of the late Walter and Lonie Rowe Compton, a retired truck driver from Bob's Food Service and Goldkist, a self-employed owner of a lawn service, and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Otto Compton of Nicholas County, a sister, Barbara (Phillip) Welch of Montgomery County and his faithful canine companion, Sam.  He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Lawson, Estil, Wallace and Virgil Compton, and 4 sisters, Shirley Sapp, Goldy Daniel, Ida Brown and Connie Hamilton.

His funeral will be 2:00 Friday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funeral with burial in Martin Willoughby Cemetery.  Visitation is 5-9:00 Thursday.
