Gladys Mae McCarty Hunt, widow of Sherman Hunt, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. She was an 83 year old native of Bourbon County, daughter of the late Howard and Ann Florence Caswell McCarty, a 1955 graduate of Montgomery County High School where Sherman proposed to her. She was married September 9, 1955, retired from Jockey International after 30 years and receiving the DSR award, and was a member of the Church of God where she taught Sunday School, Children's Church and was in the choir. She was also recorder for Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane (William) Curtis of Springfield, Illinois, 2 sons, Ricky and Roger Hunt, both of Mt. Sterling, a sister, Jean Henry of Paris, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgie Ann Hunt, and 7 siblings, Rankin (Virginia) McCarty, Cecil (Lucille) McCarty, Hazel (Albert) Mays, Mary (Glenn) Ritchie, Marjorie (Henry) Mitchell, Virginia (George) Tackett and Helen (Billy) Maybrier.
Her funeral will be 11:00 Thursday at Herald Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation 5-8:00 Wednesday.
