James Henry "Hank" Greene, widower of Elizabeth Jackson Greene, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019. He was an 89 year old native of Montgomery County, son of the late LaFayette and Sadie Clemons Greene, an Army veteran of the Korean War, retired employee from A.O. Smith after 40 years, and faithful member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church and the Montgomery County Coon Hunters Club.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Vivian (Hal) Young and Elise Stevens, a son, Johnny Greene, a daughter-in-law, Sherry Greene, brother-in-law, James Robert Jackson, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joe Lewis Greene, 3 sisters, Nora Ferguson, Betty Johnson and Carolyn Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Michael and Gerald Greene, first granddaughter, Qunette Dial Shay Greene, 6 sisters, Angela Scott, Phoebe Burns, Mary Thelma Coleman, Rena Frances Greene Lewis, Clara Thomas, and Ella Mae Wilson, and 2 brothers, Lake Allen Greene and Clemons Greene.
His funeral will be 1:00 Saturday at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Arthur Douthitt presiding, with burial in Olive Hill Cemetery, where American Legion Post 22 will have military rites. Visitation is 11-1:00 Saturday. Arrangements are entrusted to Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals.
