Robert Clay "R.C." Mitchell, husband of Mildred Moore Mitchell, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017. He was a 68 year old, born in Fayette County, to the union of the late Margaret Wallace and Clarence Mitchell Jr., an Army veteran and self-employed scrapper.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Robin (Sam) Cottrell of Jeffersonville, Jennifer Sallee and Janet Mitchell, both of West Virginia, 8 grandchildren, 3 sons, Robert Clay Mitchell Jr. and Rodney Mitchell, both of Mt. Sterling, and Douglas Mitchell of Bath County, a sister, Sharon (George) Tackett of Jeffersonville and 2 brothers, Joe (Sherry) Mitchell and Mike (Jeanette) Mitchell, both of Mt. Sterling. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Seales and a brother, Tommy Mitchell.
His funeral will be 2:00 Friday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in West Bend Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9:00 Thursday.
