Thomas J. Roberts, 76, of Middleport, Ohio, passed away August 14, 2018 at Arbors in Pomeroy, OH. He was a long-time Lexington, KY resident. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stobart Roberts, a daughter, Mindy (Mike) Smith, granddaughter, Savannah Ruth Smith, Lexington, KY, brothers Barry (Kay) Roberts, Bob (Robin) Roberts, Mt. Sterling, KY, sister-in-law, Mary Grace (Ron) Cowdery, Long Bottom, OH, several nieces and nephews and many loving Griggs cousins.
Tom was born June 22, 1942 in Salt Lick to Cleo and Lurlean Griggs Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Dean Roberts and sister, Wanda Roberts Gallagher. He was a graduate of Montgomery County High School Class of 1960 and Eastern Kentucky University Class of 1964. He worked as an accountant in Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH and Lexington, KY. He enjoyed his retirement jobs at Lexmark in Lexington. He was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, serving as camera person of the Tech Team and the Saturday morning breakfast group at the Hope Center in Lexington, both for 22 years until forced to stop due to his health. He attended Hope Baptist Church in Middleport after moving to OH.
Visitation will be 5-8:00 Friday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with funeral service there 11:00 Saturday with visitation 1 hour prior, conducted by classmate, Pastor Marcus Stevenson. Burial will be in Dickerson Cemetery, Salt Lick, up the street from Tom's birthplace. Pallbearers are Barry Roberts, Bob Roberts, Ricky Roberts, and Tom Chandler. Honorary pallbearers will be classmates from MCHS Class of 1960 and members of Believers Sunday School Class of Immanuel Baptist Church.
