Arthur Dillard Johnson Jr., husband of Shirley Mae Winburn Johnson, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021. He was an 84 year old native of Green Bend Road in Farmers, Kentucky, born to the union of the late Arthur Dillard Johnson Sr. and Frances Gertrude Johnson. He was an Army veteran, retired employee from Rockwell International, owner and operator of a barber shop, and member of Rolling Hills Church of Christ and American Legion Post #22. His hobbies included raising Iris's, refurbishing bicycles, UK basketball, yard sales and thrift stores and cornhole.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Alan (Teresa) Johnson, 2 daughters, Judy Hendrix and Janet (Jack) Crane, 2 stepchildren, Terry Lee Vest and John David (Marsha) Vest, a brother, Laban (Mary) Johnson, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous survivors in the Salt Lick area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ruth Staton and Marie Howard and 5 brothers, Tesla Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Keith Johnson, Lowell Johnson and Elwood Johnson.
Pallbearers will be: Matthew Vest, Mark Hendrix, Colton Johnson, John Vest, Jerry Roberson, Wayne Wages, Ron Gudgell, Ronnie Cooper, and Starkey Ray.
His funeral will be 2:00 Wednesday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Jerry Carmichael and Dan Murphy presiding, with burial in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation is 12-2:00 Wednesday. American Legion Post #22 will have military rites. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Rolling Hills Church of Christ Kid's Camp.
