Benson Franklin Lowe, age 91, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully at home with his family around him on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Benson was born August 10, 1934, in Carter County to the late Warren and Mary Rose Lowe. Benson was a retired truck driver and a faithful member of the Freedom Church of God.
Benson is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jones Lowe of Mt. Sterling; 1 daughter: Kathy (Todd) Frazier of Olive Hill; 3 sons: Ronnie Lowe and Timothy (Pat) Lowe of Olive Hill and Warren Joseph “Joe” Lowe of Mt. Sterling; 3 stepdaughters: Carolyn McMullen of Mt. Sterling, Priscilla Havens (Dwight Holley) of Jeffersonville and Mary Elizabeth Jones of Winchester; 6 grandchildren: Darin Oney, Tabitha Dyer, Jessica (Wess) Brown, Kaden Frazier, Megan (Tanner) Branham and Tyler Lowe; 4 step grandchildren: Kelly (John) Planck, Shania Havens (Kyle Nickell), Nicholas (Brandi) Jones and Tori (Nathan) Merryman; 4 great-grandchildren: Reanna Brown, Stevie Ann Dyer, Tegan Branham and Tarren Branham; 2 step-great-grandchildren: Alec Thomas (Kaitlyn) Hunter and Braiden Gage Nickell; and step-great-great-grandchildren: Blake Gilvin and Montana Hunter; his sister Polly Webb.
Other than his parents, Benson was preceded in death by his daughter Jama Lou Lowe; brothers Bill Lowe and Kermit “Buster” Lowe; sisters: Helen Williams, Geraldine Owens, Eula James and Wilma Jean Montgomery; his daughter in laws Kristy Lowe and Bernita Lowe.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28th at the Freedom Church of God, 3600 Levee Road. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Officiated by Pastors Hoss Prater and Kelly Poe.
Burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, KY.
Pallbearers: John Planck, Alec Thomas Hunter, Kyle Nickell, Nathan Merryman, Chris Rust, Nicholas Jones.
