Bessie Lou Stalker Belcher, age 84, of Jeffersonville, KY, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the Mt. Sterling St. Joseph Hospital. Bessie was born in Draffin, KY, in Pike County, to the late Harrison and Osie Bartley Stalker on October 29, 1940. Bessie worked for the Montgomery County Board of Education for over thirty years as a lunchroom cook/manager at Camargo Elementary. She enjoyed feeding the many school children there. She loved her children, husband of 65 years and adored her grandchildren. She loved raising gardens and canning beans. She loved helping others. She was a member of the Camargo Church of Christ.
Bessie is survived by her three children: 2 daughters Katrina (Walter) Hiler of Jeffersonville and Yvette (Shane) Rogers of Mt. Sterling, and 1 son Thomas (Shawn) Belcher of Mt. Sterling; 2 grandchildren Andie Rogers and Marissa Belcher; 2 great grandchildren Elizabeth Rogers and Liam McBeath; 1 sister Pearlie Huff of Mt. Sterling, KY; and 1 brother Elster (Carol) Stalker of Elkhorn, KY.
Besides her parents and husband Thomas Belcher, Bessie was preceded in death by 3 sisters Murline Stalker, Florence Stacy and Helen Lore; 2 brothers Bill Stalker and Clyde Stalker; nephews Rick Stacy, Michael Paul Stalker, Billy Shawn Stalker, James Clayton Stalker; great nephews Adam Stalker and Harrison Stalker and a great niece Tabitha Lester.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals Chapel. Officiating will be Robin Meyer & Wesley Delk.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at the Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery in Jeffersonville, KY.
