Barnes Compton Obituary

Barnes Lee Compton, husband of Sue Doyle Compton, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020. He was a 77 year old born in Grundy, Virginia, son of the late Joseph and Rachel Matney Compton, a former factory worker and owner and operator of a lawn care service and member of Living Water Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Kimberly (Greg) Lakes and Patricia (Kris) Durham, 2 sons, Greg Compton and Doyle (Farrah Jane) Conn, 4 grandchildren, Ben Durham, Avery, Lily and Kate Conn and 2 sisters, Hazel Nealis and Carrie (Elgin) McVey.

His funeral will be 1:00 Monday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Pastor Grant Cannoy and Pastor Ray Wyant presiding, with burial in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9:00 Sunday. Pallbearers are Jamie Compton, Ike France, Richy McVey, Dennis Wells, Kenny McVey, Charles Compton, Wendell France and Darrell Wells.
