Betty Mae Blackburn, 92, of Camargo passed away on Thursday, March 9, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Pike County in 1931 and was a member of the Camargo church of Christ. She was a devoted Christian and beloved Mom and Mamaw. She loved her garden, quilting, and time with her family. She passed along her love of cooking by teaching her daughters and granddaughters.
She is survived by two daughters, Libby Amburgey of Mt. Sterling and Terry (Doug) Shoemaker of Mt. Sterling, six grandchildren, Justin (Tamara) Shoemaker, Jessica (Scott) Pena, Bethany Shoemaker, Kimberly (Drew Hall) Shoemaker, Kristina (Joseph) Rhodes and Michael (Jennifer) Amburgey and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two siblings, Bob (Zettie) Ratliff of Pikeville, Sue (Donald) Runyon of Pikeville and special friend, Loree Detweiler of Mount Sterling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Blackburn, a son-in-law, Gary Amburgey, 9 siblings and her closest friend, Mabel Townsend.
Her funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Terry Ginter presiding with burial to follow in the Amburgey Family Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Shoemaker, Michael Amburgey, Joseph Rhodes, Connor Rhodes, Richard Johnson and Andrew Hall. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, Glenn and Sharon Copher, and Margaret Tungate.
