CHARLES "Donnie" WARD Obituary

Charles Donald Ward (Donnie), age 92, passed from this life on January 27, 2025. Donnie was a lifelong resident of Ezel, KY being born there December 12, 1932. He retired from the Morgan County School system after a long career as a School Bus Driver.

In addition to his long School Bus Driver career, Donnie was also well known for operating Wards Wrecker Service for many years.  He never turned anyone away no matter the time of day or night they called him for help.  In his earlier years his career also included Wards Auto Sales, Wards Ashland Service Station and hauling milk for Carnation Milk routes.

Donnie was a kind and gentle soul who showed great love for his family especially his 3 nephews.  Always positive with a great outlook on life, Donnie was a pleasure to be around and was well liked by all who knew him.  Donnie had a lifelong passion for trucks and driving them.  He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing years before its general popularity and enjoyed various dirt track racing in the area.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mable Ward and his sister and brother in law Noreda and Charles Peyton.  Left to cherish his memory are his 3 nephews Stephen Peyton and his wife Jane, Jeffrey Peyton and his wife Christina, and Gregory Peyton and his wife Leisa. Survivors also include 6 great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Ezel Presbyterian Church from 11:30-1:00 on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be at the Ezel Cemetery.
