Carl Barrett Sr.

Carl Barrett Sr., husband of Nancy Hiler Barrett, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his residence in Phenix City, Alabama. He was a 70 year old born in Jackson, KY to the union of the late Grover and Marie Calhoun Barrett, and a member of Victory Independence Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Civil Service. Mr. Barrett was baptist by faith, was an avid University of Kentucky fan, loved bluegrass and gospel music, loved watching western movies and cooking shows.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hiler Barrett; 2 sons, Carl Barrett Jr. and Christopher Thomas Barrett; 3 grandchildren, Carlos, Jackson and Addison Barrett; a brother, Wendell Barrett; a sister, Carolyn Raleigh; and his 3 beloved dogs, Jasper, Weslee and Jack. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Dorcas Smith, Wanda Casky, Hazel Hunley and Doris Barrett; and 4 brothers, Delmar Barrett, Johnny Green Barrett, Berry Barrett and Jonathan Barrett.

His funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Bro. Hammer McGuire presiding with burial to follow in Hiler Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Carlos Barrett, Jackson Barrett, Jeremy Purvis, Josh Christian, Tony Ingram and Roger Dowell.
