Obituary

David Lloyd Wills, 68, of Mount Sterling, KY, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at his residence.  He was born in Harrodsburg, KY to Leonard Morton and Wilma Jean Sexton Wills on May 3, 1955.  He married his high school sweetheart, Anne, on December 29, 1973.  He was a beloved husband, loving father and devoted grandfather who was cherished by all of his family.

David had a deep-seated love of life and an inexhaustible sense of humor.  He was an aviation enthusiast with his pilot's license as well as a motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed road tripping with his dad and brothers.  He loved the outdoors, hiking, swimming, climbing, rappelling and fishing.  He was also a lover of music who could play any instrument he picked up and was a member of the band Steadfast.  He was an author, a photographer, and an amateur genealogist.  He was also the dedicated director of property operations in long-term care and was loved by the residents he served.  His skill with a wrench was only matched by his generosity, sharing those skills with others.  He was an avid procurer of teddy bears and the greatest Uno cheater in all the land...just ask his grandchildren.  As someone who never met a stranger, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his spouse of nearly 50 years, Margaret Anne Ricketts Wills.  Additionally, he is also survived by his 6 children: Amy Elizabeth Wills Wilson (David Donahue) of Petersburg, VA; Tiffany Nicole Wills Groves (Ashley) of Clifty, KY; Matthew Thomas Wills (Amiee Howson Wills) Richmond, KY; Whitney Leigh Wills Richardson (Mike) Covesville, VA; Abby Rachelle Wills Thompson (Daniel) Mt. Sterling, KY; Shelby Alane Wills Jarema (Kyle) Howe, IN; and 9 grandchildren: Hunter Lane Groves (Peyton), Hannah Brooks Groves, Jacob Thomas Wilson, Zoe Elizabeth Wilson, Ava Juliet Groves, Liam Brian Groves, David Alexander Wills, Lauren Elizabeth Wills, and Alice Rachelle Thompson; three siblings: Lenora Jean Wills Constanzo (Kelly Davis) Richmond, KY; Phillip Andrew Wills (Cynthia) Nashville, TN; Robert Scott Wills (Nedra) Lexington, KY.  Numerous beloved nieces, nephews and special cousins.  Preceded in death by granddaughter Ashley Nicole Groves.
