Earl Johnson Obituary

Earl Johnson, age 78, of Jeffersonville, KY passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at St. Joseph Mount Sterling following a short illness. He was born on November 21, 1947, in Owsley County, KY to the union of the late Bedford and Crystal McIntosh Johnson.

He survived by one son, Earl Cohen Johnson; six sisters, Liz Wilson, Susie Young, Bonnie Barnett, Wanda (Wayne) Dieffenbach, Sharon (Brent) Wilson, and Christine (Chuck) Triplett; two brothers, Wally (Gina) Johnson and Sam Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his wife Peggy Rose Johnson; one son, Todd Johnson; two sisters Edna Trent and Maggie Thomas Clay; three brothers, B.J. Johnson, Ed Johnson, and Joe Johnson.

Earl loved his family, children, animals, cats, dogs, and he loved to aggravate everyone. He is retired from farming and the Montgomery County Road Department. Earl is a Jeffersonville City Commissioner and of the Christian faith. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday April 7, 2026, at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel in Mount Sterling, KY, officiating will be brother Tommy Evans. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday April 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
