Obituary

Ethel May Briscoe Markland, of Mt. sterling, passed away December 26, 2021.  She was a 78-year-old, born in Powell County, Kentucky to the union of the late Roscoe and Mildred Strange Briscoe, a homemaker and member of the Christian faith.

She is survived by 5 sons, Earl (Rose) Markland, Johnny (Cheryl) Markland, Eugene (Kim) Markland, Jimmy Markland and David (Tammy) Markland, a daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Brooks, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Everett Ginter and James Ginter, and 2 sisters Linda Tabor and Dora Miles.   She was preceded in death by a brother Tommy Briscoe.

Her funeral will be noon on Thursday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Machpelah Cemetery.  Visitation is 10-12:00 Thursday.  Pallbearers are Kenneth Markland, Michael Brooks, Justin Urmson, Jonathon Urmson, Robbie Scaggs, and Dustin Moore.  Honorary pallbearers are John Hayes and Zachary Markland.  Contributions are suggested to the family for funeral expenses.  

Arrangements are placed in the care of Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals.
