FRANCES (McCLOUD) LAYNE

Frances McCloud Layne, age 87, of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.  Frances was born in Huntington, WV to the union of the late James and Delcie Mae McCloud, on November 17, 1937.  Frances loved her children and her many grand, great and great-great grandchildren.  She was of the Christian faith.

Frances is survived by 2 sons-William Rex Layne (Edith) of Campton, Timothy James (Lynn) of Jeffersonville; 1 daughter Margaret Ann Harris (Jim) of Morehead; 7 grandchildren– Isabella Alexis-Layne, Gratiana Alexis-Layne, Jaden Alexis-Layne, Chad Layne, Rocky Layne, Wesley Lester, Vanessa Johnson; 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters– JoAnn Ratliff of Pike County, Delcie McCloud of Huntington, WV; 2 brothers– Fred McCloud of NC, Keith McCloud of Logan WV.

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband Vanis Layne, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 22, at 1:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, February 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Chapel. 

Burial will follow at Layne Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
