Frances Estes Obituary

Frances Joy Tipton Estes, 88, of Mt. Sterling, passed Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at her home in Camargo. Born December 23rd, 1931 in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Troy Francis Tipton and Bessie Jane Amburgey Tipton. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ for 63 years.  After graduating from High School she worked at what she called "the dime store" which was called Newberry's Department Store.  Later she worked for Frank Allen who was a CPA.  After her marriage to C.G. Estes Jr. in 1952, they opened Estes Auto Sales Inc. where they worked side by side as partners for well over 60 years.

She enjoyed life to the fullest.  Every weekend was scheduled with parties, get togethers, reunions, church singing, camping, skiing and boating.  Many vacations were taken and everyday was filled with laughter, fun and love.  She was a terrific cook, which she had the very best teacher, her mother, Bessie.  Later on she became the president of Town and Country homemakers group and she enjoyed all the crafts, trips and lunches they attended together.  She became an artist midlife.  Attending classes at Morehead College, as well as instructing them.  She received many ribbons and awards for her work.  Frankfort capital called her and asked for her to design an ornament for the capital Christmas tree.  She was so honored.  Her prints and originals were hung in restaurants, doctor offices, banks and the gallery of the arts center.  A member of the Art Guild, serving on the Board of Homemakers for Montgomery County, UK basketball, shopping, traveling, cooking, church and family functions were some of her favorites.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Moore (Wade) of Mt. Sterling, one granddaughter, Erica Back of Mt. Sterling, one grandson, Cooper Moore, one great-grandson, Kingston Back, two sisters, Lou Blevins and Joann Isaac of Mt. Sterling, one brother, Bobby Tipton (Judy) of Mt. Sterling, a sister-in-law, Gayle Tipton, many nieces and nephews and their children.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, C.G. Estes Jr, her daughter, Connie Elaine Estes, her parents, Troy and Bessie Tipton, her brother, Raymond Tipton (Sylvia), her brother, Tom Tipton, two brothers-in-law, Buck Blevins and Cordell Isaac.

No funeral services will be held due to Covid-19, but a visitation will be held at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals Monday evening from 6-8:00 and a cemetery service will be held at Machpelah Cemetery on Tuesday at 1:00.  Everyone is welcome.
