GEORGE ROY TACKETT

George Roy Tackett, age 84, of Jeffersonville, passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 15, 2025.  George was born on February 8, 1941 in Winchester, KY to the union of the late Curtis and Edith Gilvin Tackett.   George was a retired plumber. He loved dirt track racing and showing his antique cars. George was of the Baptist faith.

George is survived by 1 daughter Edie Shields (Donnie) of Mt. Sterling, 1 son George Tackett, Jr (Sharon) of Jeffersonville, 6 grandchildren-Lisa Tackett, George Tackett, Amy Vanzant, Christi Tackett, Curtis Griffin and Candace Griffin; 18 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Besides  parents, George was preceded in death by his wives Virginia McCarty Tackett and Ida Gaye Tackett.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 20th at 2:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals Chapel. Friends can visit Wednesday, February 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Chapel.  Officiating will be Artie Amburgey.

Burial will follow at the Machpelah Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Curtis Griffin, Larry Griffin, Troy Davis, Billy Stull, Joe Mitchell, Rusty Dunn, Greg Montgomery, Gleason Humphrey.

Honorary Pallbearers: Gary Brock, Danny Townsend, Hank Dunn and Grandsons.
