George Updike, husband of Imogene Colter Updike, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021. He was an 89 year old native of Montgomery County, Kentucky, son of the late James Updike and Fanny Haydon, a retired fireman and member of Camargo Church of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Danny Updike (Diana), a daughter, Stella "Kathy" Wells (Keith), 5 grandchildren, Ashley Becraft (Dustin), Lee Jett (Afton), Danielle Snowden, Justin Lovell (Haley), and Megan Webb (Kayla), 10 great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Zakary Becraft, Lillee, Brayden, Caroline, and Carlee Jett, Emmerson and Beau Lovell, Ethan Snowden and Preston Webb, a sister, Lydia "Ann" Simmons and his beloved dog, Dexter.
He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Lee Updike, 6 brothers, Frank, Eugene, Jack, Bob, Eddie and Dan Updike and 3 half siblings.
His funeral will be noon Wednesday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Tim Updike and Kim Rose presiding, with burial in Lovely Amburgey Cemetery. Visitation is 6-9:00 Tuesday.
