Gertrude D. (Gilley) Ballard

Gertrude D. Gilley Ballard, widow of Walter Ballard Sr., passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at her residence in Jeffersonville, KY. She was a 78 year old born in Bourbon County, KY to the union of the late Gordon "Doc" Gilley and Roxie Griggs Carpenter, a retired employee of A.O. Smith and member of the Pentecostal faith. Gertrude enjoyed sewing, reading, flowers and spending time with her beloved dog; Daisy.

She is survived by a son; Johnny Ballard, a daughter; Rita Ballard, a foster-daughter; Barbara Albert, 2 step-sons; Walter Ballard Jr. (Pam) and Demery Ballard, a step-daughter; Sheila Tackett (Ernest), 3 grandsons; John Applewhite, Jonathan Ballard (Heather) and Christopher Dailey (Lanaya), a granddaughter; Arian Applewhite, 3 great granddaughters; Peyton Dailey, Kendall Dailey and Blakely Dailey, a foster-grandson; Jay Paxton (Janice), 3 great foster-granddaughters; Allie Paxton, Katilyn Vatnsdal and Ashleigh Kirk, as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by a daughter; Maxine Applewhite, a sister and 4 brothers.

A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Peachy Williams Cemetery in Means, KY.
