ISAAC "Ike" SAMS Obituary

Isaac T. “Ike” Sams was born on December 14, 1949, in Clay City, KY to the union of the late Clyde Sams and Dorothy Curtis Means. He passed away on October 26, 2024, at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, KY. He lived a life marked by resilience and dedication, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and service.

Ike was a retired minister who devoted his life to helping others. He held various professions throughout his career, including car salesman, wrecker driver for Pelfrey's, manager at Colorama and A+ Rental, and insurance salesman for Modern Woodman. His diverse career showcased his adaptability and commitment to his community.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mildred Zola Jolly Sams. As well as his brothers, Paul Sams, James Means, Danny Means, and Robert Means. Ike is survived by his son, Ronald "Tommy" Sams of Sharpsburg, his granddaughter, Emily P. Sams of Owingsville, and four great-grandchildren: Kaidyn Ruark, Adalynn Jones, Scotlyn Lawson, and Kohl McDaniel, all of Owingsville. Along with his two sisters Delina “Sissy” Sams and Elizabeth Means both of Winchester, KY. He also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews who cherished him.

Ike graduated from Clark County High School and furthered his education at Morehead State University, earning an associate’s degree in business administration. Despite losing his hands in a farming accident at an early age, Ike’s determination never faltered, inspiring those around him. Ike's life was a testament to perseverance, love, and the importance of family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30th at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel. The burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery.

Friends and family may visit from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th at Herald and Stewart.
