JOAN (CHANDLER) SHEPHERD

Joan Chandler Shepherd, age 77, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away peacefully at home with her family around her on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Joan was born in Mt. Sterling on May 17, 1948, to the late Richard and Lula McLean Chandler, Jr.   Joan was a member of the Reid Village Baptist church. She was a loving wife, mother, Mamaw, sister, aunt and friend to many.  She was known for her famous sour dough bread. Joan dedicated her life to caring for her family and making memories that will be cherished for years.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Craig Shepherd of Mt. Sterling; 2 daughters: Rhonda Bennett of Frankfort and Kim (Brian) Creech of Mt. Sterling; 4 grandchildren: Aaron (Sumer) Woodward of Lawrenceburg, Chandler (Alize) Woodward of Nicholasville, Jeremiah Thompson of Richmond and Colten Creech of Mt. Sterling; 7 great grandchildren: Jeremy, Jaycee, Paisley, Landon, Noah, Hazel and Rory; 4 sisters: Sheila Wade, Phyllis (Alan) Justice, Teresa Chandler and Becky (Eddie) Vinson; 1 brother: Tommy Chandler; 2 sisters-in-law Pam (Carl) Abney and Tammy (John) Tapp; 1 brother-in-law Dale Shepherd; several nephews & nieces and great nephews & nieces.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by 2 brothers Doug Chandler and Jimmy Chandler and a brother-in-law Jeff Shepherd.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Reid Village Baptist Church, 1957 Winchester Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Officiated by Pastor Todd Wiley and Pastor Glenn Sizemore.

Burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, KY.

Pallbearers: Aaron Woodward, Chandler Woodward, Jeremiah Thompson, Colten Creech; Brian Creech, Tommy Woods.

Honorary Pallbearers: Nieces & Nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made to Reid Village Baptist Church, Hope Church of God, St. Claire U.K. Hospice.
