JOSEPH JAMES MACFARLAN

Joseph James Macfarlan, age 58, of Mt. Sterling passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Sterling, KY. Joseph was born December 18, 1966 in Pontiac, MI to the union of the late James and Carolyn Killing MacFarlan. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He also worked for Vestis.  Joseph also supported the Special Olympics as a volunteer.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Reed MacFarlan of Mt. Sterling; 1 son-C.J. MacFarlan of Lexington; 1 daughter-Katie MacFarlan of Lexington;  3 beloved stepchildren-Sunnie (Dale) Shrout, Kenzie (Andy) Sallee and Dakota Mitchell- all of Mt. Sterling; 3 grandchildren-Claira Thompson, Lakyn Sallee and Dawson Shrout; 1 sister– Lisa (Pat) Lauringer of Standish, MI and his mother-in-law Joan Brown of Piner, KY.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 22, at 3:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m.  Military Rites by the Mt. Sterling American Legion, Post 22.
