Justene (Wells) Humfleet

Justene Wells Humfleet, wife of Elbert E. Humfleet, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at Ridgeway Nursing & Rehabilitation in Owingsville, KY. She was a 90 year old born in Clay City, KY to the late Robert and Mary Zella Sams Wells, a retired cook and member of Church on The Rock in Stanton, KY.

She is survived by her husband, Elbert Humfleet; a daughter, Deborah Catchings (David); a son, Walter Humfleet (Teresa); 9 grandchildren, Diana Rogers (Vernon), Amy Wagers (Brian), Jennifer Springer (Richie), Angie Jones (Matt), Justina Brooks (Michael), Erica Boggs (Travis), Alana Surrena (Larry), Ryan Means (Sheila) and Joel Means; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Justene was preceded in death by a son, Robert Means; a brother, William Wells; and 5 sisters, Roberta Handy, Alice Powell, Lavena Catchings, Vernice Watson and Hattie Puckett.

Her funeral will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, with Cecil Benge presiding and burial to follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Ryan Means, Geoffrey Catchings, Seth Razor, William Puckett, Herbie Puckett and Johnny Catchings. Honorary Pallbearers are Brian K. Wagers and Nathaniel Humfleet.
