KAREN LONG YOUNG

Karen Long Young, age 78, passed away October 22, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Sterling.  Karen was born September 13, 1946, in Troy, Ohio to the union of the late Wilmot Long and the late Helen Hirsch Long.  Karen dedicated her life to caring for others in their time of need as a Nurse’s Aid.  She lived a full life and was blessed with a large family, whom she loved deeply.

She is survived by 3 daughters– Kimberly (Michael) Denkins of Owingsville KY, Jennifer (Matt Hess) Bryant of Colorado and Marta (Dave) Hilt of Florida;  3 sons– Larry Grapner of Piqua Ohio, Joe Grapner of Jeffersonville KY and Scott (LaJeanna) Young of Mt. Sterling KY.  Several grand-children, several great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews;  4 sisters– Darla Grapner of Piqua Ohio, Wilma Shafer of Piqua Ohio, Debra (Jud) White of Quincy Ohio and Dawn (Eugene) North of Troy Ohio.

Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her loving husband Virgil Young.

The funeral service will be Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Chapel.   Friends and Family can visit Saturday from noon until time of service. 
Officiating will be Dan Murphy.

Burial will follow at the Clairmont Memorial Gardens in Winchester, KY.

Pallbearers will be Joe Grapner, Scott Young, Michael Grapner, Michael Ratliff, Chad Carmen, Michael Denkins, Matt Price.
