LEWIS DONALD SMITH

Lewis Donald Smith, age 80, loving husband to Maxine Turner Smith, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Morgan County, KY, on January 26, 1945 to the union of the late Roscoe and Mazie Adkins Smith.  He was a member of the Christian faith and attended Spruce First Church of God in Jeffersonville, KY.  He was a former employee of the Walker Company working for the rock quarry in Frenchburg.  He was also an employee of the Bath County Board of Education as a bus driver.  The latter part of his life was spent farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Turner Smith; 4 sons: Mitchel (Angie) Smith, Donnie (Prette) Smith, Jeff Smith, Charles (Pam) Smith; 1 daughter Diane (Richard) Odem, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren;  3 half sisters: Peggy Link, Alice Maney, Patty Kelley; a host of nieces and nephews; A special friend Mary Kay Smith and 2 special nieces Mary Snelling and Nell Lee.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by 1 brother James Smith and 6 sisters: Lena Moore, Thelma Snelling, Ruth Sexton, Mae Arnold, Ivory Snelling and Faye White; daughter-in-law Ruby Smith.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals Chapel.  Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Officiating is Wendell Clevinger.

Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery in Bethel, KY.
