Louis T. Shanks

Louis T. Shanks Sr., widower of Loretta Shanks, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at his residence in Mt. Sterling, KY. He was born in Lexington, KY to the union of the late Ebb and Polly Hobbs Shanks, a member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

He was a landscaper for 62 years and a devoted son, husband, Dad and Grandpa. He was a very strong believer in Jesus Christ. His favorite saying was, "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism." He loved fishing, traveling and listening to gospel music. His grandkids thought he was the greatest Grandpa in the world. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. God got the best Angel when he called our Dad home.

He is survived by his loving family: Linda Young (Robert), Lewis "Jr." Shanks (Darlene), Ricky Shanks, Jeannie Bush (L.C.), Mike Shanks, Tammy Arnett (Marcus), Lynn Davis (Billy), Arlene Hopkins (Peanut), Charlotte Taylor (Tim), Shella Adams (John), Tina Kitchens (Shane), Krystal Shanks (Garland) and Shellie Shanks. He has 38 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers; Fred Shanks, Jim Shanks and Ebb Shanks. Louis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta Shanks, 2 sons; Sam Shanks and William Shanks, his parents; Ebb and Polly Shanks, 3 sisters; Jesse Lee Tatum, Sara Bell Jones and Dora May Shanks, a brother, Gene Shanks, and a granddaughter, Sarah Lee Shanks.

His funeral will be Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, James "Bo" Shanks presiding with burial to follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Michael Shanks, Lewis Shanks, Arlene Hopkins, Bryan Shanks, Austin Shanks, and Garland Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers are Scottie Shanks, Henry Bush, Brett Shanks, Tim Byrd and John Adams.

Arrangements are placed in the care of Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals.
