Obituary

Monday morning, July 31, 2023 around 9:30 a.m., Lucy Rash accepted God's call to receive her just reward for a beautiful service well done. Lucy was born February 26, 1925 in Sharpsburg, KY to Rob and Katie Jones. She attended and graduated from the old Montgomery County Training School. She married the love of her life, the late David Rash Sr. on February 8, 1947 and to this union, five children were born.

She joined The Greater First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, at a very young age. After moving to Mt. Sterling, KY, she later joined the KEAS Tabernacle CME Church where she served in many capacities to include: being an usher, singing in the choir, stewardess emeritus, Board #2, American War Mother, and last but not least, Missionary Society. She served faithfully and financially to the very end. In addition to her 33 year career with Mt. Sterling Water and Sewer, where she retired from in 2014, Lucy was employed by the late Ed and Mary Robinson Prewitt for many years and after their passing, she continued with Edwina Mae Prewitt to finish her domestic career.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Rob and Katie Jones; husband, David Rash Sr.; daughter, Marjorie Walker; grandson, Marlon Rash; great grandson, Jarrod Walker; and a sister, Edith Heflin. She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Beverly Rash of Mt. Sterling, KY; David Rash Jr. of Covington, KY; Denise Barnes (Larry) of Mt. Sterling, KY; and Charles Rash (Marjorie) of Mt. Sterling, KY; grandchildren, Stephanie Walker, Shamon Walker, Daphne Scott, Ryan Barnes of Mt. Sterling, Nigel Thomas of Covington, Marlon Rash, Colby Conner and Brandon Rash (Brittany) of Lexington, KY; great grandchildren, Gana Walker. Sloane Rash, Kaitlin Scott-Mitchell and Chez Warsoldier; great great granddaughter, Cambri Walker; great nephew, Richard Johnson of New Orleans, LA; great nieces, Felicia Johnson of Paducah, KY and Yvette Johnson of Nashville, TN; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at KEAS Tabernacle CME Church, Elder Vincent Farris presiding with burial to follow in Olive Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
