Mary Maxine Hughes Vice, age 84, of Winchester, KY, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 23, 2026. Maxine was born in Hazard, KY, on November 27, 1941, to the late Mann and Sitha Smith Hughes. Maxine worked many years for the Clark County Board of Education. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Community Church.
Maxine is survived by her loving husband Arnold Lee Vice of Winchester; 2 daughters: Jenny (Tommy) Woods of Mt. Sterling and Angie Vice of Mt. Sterling; 1 son Scott (Erika) Vice of Butler, PA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; 1 sister Bessie Holley of Mt. Sterling; 2 brothers: Richard Hughes of Lexington and Billy Hughes of Nicholasville; several nieces and nephews and special life-long friends Billy & Evelyn Willoughby.
Besides her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Darrell, James, Don and Eddie Hughes; 6 sisters: Joyce Grisby, Faye Greco, Emily Napier, Charlene Carroll, Gail Stone and Brenda Lee.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27th at Mt. Zion Community Church, 6155 Mount Sterling Road, Winchester, KY.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26th at the Mt. Zion Community Church. Officiating will be Al Gwinn and Neil Salvaterra.
Burial to follow at Clarmont Memorial Gardens, 3000 Mt. Sterling Road, Winchester, KY.
Pallbearers: Josh Woods, Andrew Woods, Evan Collins, Anthony Vice, Layton Profitt, Hudson Vice.
