Mittie Story Wigginton, age 86, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, in her home. Born July 2, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Clara Stephens Story and widow of Ray Bush Wigginton, of Mt. Sterling. She was a retired bookkeeper and was a member of the Church of the Harvest.
Survivors include her daughter Melissa Rae (Marion) Fawns of Mt. Sterling; 3 grandchildren: Roman (Kayla Ethington) Fawns of Nicholasville, Jake (Elbony) Fawns and Sarah (Meyrick) Barnett, both of Mt. Sterling; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 sister-Carolyn Drennen of Mt. Sterling; several nieces and nephews and a very special care giver, Charlene Bailey.
Besides her husband and parents, Mittie was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Powell Story.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June30th at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 29 at Herald & Stewart. Officiating will be Pastor Marion Fawns.
Burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, KY.
Pallbearers: Roman Fawns, Jake Fawns, Meyrick Barnett, Perry “Doe” Howard, Jay Weaver, Allen Johnson.
