Mary Owens Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Burns Botts Owens, widow of Hobert Owens Sr., passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling. She was a 95 year old born in Montgomery County to the union of the late Ann Mildred Davis Brooks and Walter Burns, a homemaker and member of Keas CME Church.

She is survived by 14 children, James Botts (Sarah), Paul B. Barnes (Joyce), Henry Owens (Willa), Hobert Owens Jr. (Conchita), Charles W. Owens (Patricia), Sherry O. Greene, Darrell Owens (Carol), Tony Owens (Linda), Mark Owens (JoAnn), Ronald Owens (Lynette), Robert Owens, Karen Owens, Donna Owens and Mary Lisa Owens Maynard; 42 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Howard Clay Brooks (Barbara) and 2 special nieces, Wanda Scott and Frances White. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Frances White; 4 brothers, Raymond Burns, Walter Burns, Dave Willie Burns and John Ed Brooks; along with 3 grandchildren, Darrin Botts, Qunette Greene and Anthony Owens.

Her funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Keas CME Church, Rev. Greg Bonner presiding with burial to follow in Olive Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are placed in the care of Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals.
