NORMA Jean (CROOKS) GARRETT

Norma Jean Crooks Garrett, age 77, (also fondly known to her family as "Bugs") departed this life early Friday morning November 8, 2024 after a long illness at the Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, KY.   She was a lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, born November 24, 1946 to the union of the late Charles Crooks and Kizzie Summers Crooks. 

She graduated from Dubois High School in 1964. She married her high school sweetheart in 1966.  She was employed by Jockey Manufacturing for several years and a retired domestic worker.  She enjoyed spending time with her family especially spoiling her grandchildren; playing board games and going to bingo on Friday evenings with her sisters.  She was a faithful member of the High Street Christian Church until her health failed her.  She loved plants and flowers; her favorite color was yellow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother David Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, George Edward Garrett of 58 years; a daughter, Jeanette Garrett Mason; 1 son George Edward Garrett III, all of Mt. Sterling;  three grand children- Andre McCall, South Dakota; James (Katherine) Fletcher III, Cynthiana, Shaunice Garrett, Texas.  seven sisters: Mary Waller, Covington KY, JoAnn (Larry) Cunningham, Lenora Crooks, Mt. Sterling, Mildred Crooks, Donna (John) Keene, Frankfort KY, Crystal (Lonnie) Bradshaw, Winchester, KY, Marissa Smith, Alabama;  one brother Charles Crooks Jr., Mt. Sterling, two sister-in-laws Elizabeth (Julian) Piersawl, Barbara (Howard) Brooks, Mt. Sterling, KY and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, November 14, 2024, 1 p.m. at the Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals Chapel.  Family & Friends can visit Thursday from noon till time of service.  Officiating will be Darrell Hayden.
Burial at Olive Hill Cemetery.
