Ronald James Herald, MSN, RN, of Mount Sterling, Kentucky passed away peacefully at his home on October 9, 2020, at the age of 67. He was born February 3, 1953, in Owasso, Michigan.
Ron is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Shirley Lynn Elam Herald, 3 sons and 1 daughter, Troy and wife Tina Herald, Elijah Herald, Adam and wife Elizabeth Adkins, and Charity and husband Brian Adkins; 5 grand children Haley Herald, Natalia Herald, Levi Herald, Aaron Adkins, and Ella Adkins; and 1 sister Chrystal Herald Dye and husband Timothy Dye. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie Herald.
Ron was a Christian and a member of Living Water Church, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. He was a retired Registered Nurse and worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and as a nursing instructor for Indian Wesleyan University. He was a Minister for 10 years in Owsley County, Kentucky, a Kentucky Colonel, and member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Nursing Honor Society.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had many hobbies including working in his garage, studying the Bible, going to comic book conventions, watching football and basketball games, going to the movies, and being outdoors.
A time of gathering and visitation will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a service on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Pastor Grant Cannoy presiding. Burial will follow the service at Machpelah Cemetery in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Troy Herald, Elijah Herald, Adam Adkins, Brian Adkins, Levi Herald, Aaron Adkins, Delow Williams, Timothy Dye, and Jeff Garrison.
