Scott Douglas Gilliam, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his
residence in Mt. Sterling. He was a 52 year old born in Columbus, Ohio to the union of the
late Glenn and Hazel Delauder Gilliam. He was a skilled carpenter and mechanic, an
untutored genius, and a committed Christian member of Bless the Lord Church in Mt.
Sterling.
He is survived by two sons, Zachary and Nicholas Gilliam; a grandson, John Adams, and
his fiancé, Sondra Hackworth. Also surviving Scott are his siblings: brothers Daryll Gilliam
(Charlotte) and Ray Gilliam (Cecelia), and sisters Nichole Blevins (Mitchell), Lana Benton
(T.O.), Loisanne Lowe (Samuel) and Lisa Cundiff. In addition to his parents, Scott is
preceded in death by two brothers, Craig Gilliam and Glenn “Skip” Gilliam; and one sister,
Lora Turner.
A memorial service will be held 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2022, at Herald & Stewart
Home for Funerals with Pastor Wayne Ross presiding. Visitation will take place prior to the
memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. for family, and from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for friends of
Scott’s.
