Vaneesa Lynn (Lee) Martin, beloved wife, mother, nana, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on December 22, 1959 to Kay (Turley) Lee and the late Larry Lee, Vaneesa was a lifelong resident of Mount Sterling and alumna of Montgomery County High School and Eastern Kentucky University.
In 1979, Vaneesa married Tim Martin of Winchester at Reid Village Baptist Church, and they shared 45 years of marriage centered around Christian faith, hard work, humility, and family love. Together, they raised two children. Throughout Vaneesa's life, she had been an employee of Trojan, Inc. and Belk's department store; however, she spent 23 years as an attendance director at Mapleton Elementary, serving the school until her retirement in 2014.
Vaneesa was known for her compassionate heart, kindness, creativity, and work ethic. She spent her retirement making crafts, reading, and teaching her grandchildren. Above all, she loved Jesus Christ and lived her life for Him daily. His love and compassion radiated from her as family, friends, colleagues, and kids she served could attest. Later in her life, she became a member of First Baptist Church Mount Sterling, where she served faithfully in the children's ministries.
Vaneesa is survived by her husband, Tim; her children, Adam (Emily) Martin and Erin (Turk) Windell; her grandchildren, Colton, Riley, Harper, Croslee, and Adalynn; her mother, Kay (Turley) Lee; her sister Lysandra (Artie) Amburgey; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Larry Lee.
In honor of Vaneesa's humility, meekness, and privacy, the family is holding a private graveside service for immediate family members only on November 5, 2024.
