WANDA (MARKLAND) JONES

Wanda Markland Jones, age 73, of Paris, KY, passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, September 14, 2026.  Wanda was born in Mt. Sterling, KY on July 20, 1953, to the late Charles and Frances Erlanson Markland.  She worked as a cook for many years at Mary Chiles/St. Joe Mt. Sterling hospital.   Wanda was of the Christian faith.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Emma Jones (Ronnie) Traylor of North Middletown; her son Kenneth Hayes (Shelly) Jones, Jr. of North Middletown; 2 grandsons: Austin (Victoria) Jones and Logan (Chelzie) Traylor; 4 great grandchildren: Brentley, Eli, Karter and Kyler; 1 sister Betty Martin of Mt. Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, Wanda, was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Hayes Jones; 4 sisters: Peggy Burris, Mary Faye Ritchie, Gail Hedges and Janice Martin; 3 brothers: Larry Markland, Eddie Markland and Marvin “Pinky” Markland and 1 nephew Michael Wayne Martin.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18th at Herald & Stewart Home For Funerals. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Officiated by Robbie Conn.  

Burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, KY.

Pallbearers: Cody Martin, Austin Jones, Logan Traylor, Donnie Jones, Jr., John Martin, Jr., Dakota Martin.

Honorary Pallbearers: Nieces and Nephews.
