Wilma F. (Matthews) Newton

Wilma F. Newton, widow of Roger L. Newton, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022.  She was an 87-year-old born in Bethel, Kentucky, daughter of the late D and Judy M. Brown Matthews, a retired employee from Jockey International and a member of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by 5 grandchildren, including Sunshine (Chris) Arnett, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Ella Mae Jones.  She was preceded in death by 3 children, Roger D. Maclanahan, Charlotte Eastham and David Newton Sr.

Her funeral will be 1:00 Tuesday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals, Pastors Ricky and Bonnie Meadows presiding, with burial in Longview Cemetery.  Visitation is 11-1:00 Tuesday.  Pallbearers are Anthony Walker, Kaylanna Hale, Emmett Meeks, Christopher Arnett, and Matthew Call.   Honorary pallbearer is Hunter Spencer.
