Marvin Jay Shelley, widower of Loretta Jones Shelley, of North Middletown, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018. He was a 77 year old native of Montgomery County, son of the late Carlos and Lula Branham Shelley, a farmer and member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, David Jay (Kristie) Shelley of Paris, a daughter, Donna (Dale) Osborne of Nicholas County, a grandson, Vernon Leach Jr. of Louisville, 2 sisters, Betty Ferguson of Middletown, Ohio and Sue (Gene) Elam of Paris, 3 brothers, Billy Shelley of North Middletown, Kenneth (Anna) Shelley of Mt. Sterling, and Jerry (Judy) Shelley of Lexington, South Carolina, a son-in-law, Vernon Leach Sr. of Versailles and special friend, Grace Faulkner.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Leach and 2 sisters, Josephine Pettit and Daisy McCarty.
His funeral will be 1:00 Monday at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8:00 Sunday.
