Christie Anne (Redmond) Jouett

Christie Anne Redmond Jouett, 59, of Mt. Sterling, KY, died on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at St Joseph Mount Sterling Hospital surrounded by loving family and closest friends. Born August 8, 1962, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, she was the third of five children born to the late Clarence Edward and Sallye Groves Redmond. She was a member of Fairview Christian and High Street Christian Churches. She was the granddaughter of Lee Roy and Elizabeth Jones Groves and Melvin and Eddie Carrie Fletcher Redmond. She is a member of Montgomery
County High School Class of 1980, Kentucky State University class of 1985 where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Child Development and Family Relations, and a Masters of Arts in
Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky class of ‘92. She served on the Montgomery County Citizens Foster Care Review Board, Montgomery County Relay for Life Executive Board, Kentucky Department Administrative Offices of the Courts Diversity Commission: Montgomery County Schools Diversity Commission.  She was also a lifetime member of Kentucky State University Alumni Association. While she was a self-confessed, lifelong learner, she was happiest when working with children and her family.  

Survivors include; her spouse of 24 years, Vance A. Jouett, of Mt. Sterling; a son, Anthony Allen Redmond Jouett,; three daughters, Adia Gabrielle, Alyssa Danielle Frances and Allison Taylor Lee all of Mt. Sterling, KY. Bonus children; Thomisia Glymph-Martin, Jenell Glymph, Lauren Glymph and Tiffany Hamilton-Smith all of Louisville; R’riana, J’Kyiah and Legaci Stacy-Wright of Mt. Sterling; Emery Kate Sargent of Mt. Sterling; Easton Lueker of Mt. Sterling; John Wilson of Mt. Sterling; Megan Taul, Courtney Reed Taul and Amanda Wilson Meek of Mt. Sterling; Tiffany Taul of Erlanger; Siblings: Clarence E. Redmond, Jr. (Brittany), Lexington; Sheliah Redmond Sterling (Jack), Mt. Sterling, Clairessa Redmond Hamilton (Leon), Versailles. Two brothers-in-law: Gregory Glover, Richmond; Lanny Jouett (Joetta), Frankfort; One sister-in-law: Jennifer Jouett Jackson, Mt. Sterling, KY, Special Friends, Jenie Carter and Raymond Burse of Louisville; Jamie Owens of Lexington; Jenny Vinson, Janie Robinson, Jodi Morrison, Hopey Newkirk; Kathy Boyd and Terena Wallingford; and the faculty and staff of Northview Elementary School. Aunts: Dilla Waker (Dick) of Mt. Sterling; Meacie Simpson, Lexington; Sarah L. Jouett, Mason, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Clarence and Sallye Groves Redmond; Grandparents- Melvin and Eddie Carrie Fletcher Redmond; Roy and Elizabeth Jones Groves; a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Redmond Glover, a Niece, Ashley Hamilton Palmer; two, Brothers-in- law- Mark Jouett  and Walter Jackson; and a Sister-in-law- Doris Burns Carter.

Due to the inclement weather, her funeral will be moved to 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Heritage  Christian Church, Reverend Jerry W. Jones, Sr. presiding with burial  in Machpelah Cemetery on Monday. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Heritage Christian Church. Pallbearers are: Eddie Campbell and Mark Crain of Mt. Sterling,; Christian Glover and Jackie Sterling, Winchester,; Jeffrey Hamiliton, Lexington; Jayden Hamilton of Versailles, Dr. Matt Thompson, of Mt. Sterling. Honorary pallbearers are Jodi Morrison; Jenie Carter; Jamie Owens; Jenny Vinson; Janie Robinson; Hopey Newkirk; Sarah, Mark Allen and John Mark Crain; Ashley Sterling, Shonda Burns; Kathyrn Elliott, Kathy Boyd and Cailyn Jouett.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to one of Christie’s Causes: American Cancer Society, Montgomery County Family Resource and Youth Services; donate a backpack of school supplies or flip flops to a local school; and/or the Jouett Children Scholarship Fund.
