Mary Ellen (West) Jones

Mary K Ellen West Jones, 91, of Salt Lick, KY died in her home on June 29, 2023, after a prolonged illness. She was born February 12, 1932 in Powell County to the late Andrew "Andy" West and Essie Webb. Mary was a Christian woman that loved the Lord. She was a member of the Spring Street Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling but was attending Moore's Ferry Christian Church in Salt Lick at the time of her death. She loved serving people whether it was a stranger or her own family. Her heart was much bigger than her body. She helped people tirelessly, giving selflessly. She was a friend to all in need. She was loving and smart in both a book sense and common sense. She knew what it was to work hard, whether it be farming, as a waitress, as a seamstress, in retail, or as a Mt. Sterling Police Dispatcher. She could repair almost anything she set her mind to. She loved reading, doing puzzles, sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and wood crafting in her spare time. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved being surrounded by them all. She found peace in the beauty of nature and outdoors. Her kind loving heart will be missed.

Mary is survived by her children: Cynthia Lynam (Joey), Carlos Pargen, Vivian Setters (Raymond), Sherie McVey (Gary), Tommy Jones, and Terry Jones. One brother, Luther Rhule of Somerset, KY. Several Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. As well as special friends, Tammy and Randy Warner, whom she considered family.
