Maudie Marie (Allen) Prater Obituary
Maudie Allen Prater, widow of Rollie V. Prater, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at her residence. She was a 75 year old born in Magoffin County to the union of the late James and Liddie Taulbee Allen, a retired retail worker and member of Bethesda Church.
Maudie, known lovingly as Mom, Mamaw and Mamaudie, was adored by her family. Maudie loved the Lord above all else, trusting Him for all her needs. She remained devoted to her true love Vernon throughout her lifetime even after his premature death. She loved her children, their spouses and her grandchildren dearly. She cherished the simple things in life and always had a smile or fun story of the past to share. She loved to write, creating stories from real life experiences that God had blessed her with and took joy in the many photos of her family and friends. Maudie was a true beauty, merciful and compassionate - a gift to all who knew and loved her. She will be missed here on earth but is surely dancing now!
Maudie is survived by 3 sons; Dennis Prater (Rebecca), Ralph Prater (Lorrie) and Keith Prater (Susan) 1 daughter; Mary Fields (Kevin), 6 grandchildren; Kelsey Palmer, Sarah Henson (John), Robert Fields, Tony Prater, Andrew Fields and Tennyson Prater, 1 great-grandchild; Elijah Lee Prater, 1 brother; Mitchell Allen (Judy), and 1 sister; Joyce Short (Russel). In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son; Rodney Kelly Prater, 4 brothers; George Allen, Phillip Allen, Knovie Allen and Donnie Allen, along with 2 sisters; Opal Allen Pugh and Cora Faye Allen.
Her funeral will be 12:00 Monday, December 20 at Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals with burial to follow in Prater Cemetery (Morgan County). Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
